Bing Crosby Picture
Harry Lillis "Bing" Crosby (May 2, 1903 - October 14, 1977) was an American singer and actor whose career lasted from 1926 until his death in 1977. Bing Crosby's influence on popular culture and popular music is considerable as from 1934 to 1954 he held a nearly unrivaled command of record sales, radio ratings and motion picture grosses. He is usually considered to be a member of popular music's "holy trinity" of ultra-icons, alongside Elvis Presley and The Beatles. Bing Crosby popularized singing with conversational ease, or crooning. His musical interpretations amalgamated rhythm and romance with scat singing, whistling, rhythmic improvisation and melodic paraphrasing as elements of a hotter, sexier sound than had been conceived before.

ONLY FOREVER
Bing Crosby
(Monaco, Burke)
- The movie Rhythm on the River provided Bing his third No. 1 hit of 1940.
Johnny Burke got the idea for "Only Forever" from an expression he heard
Bing use. Bing recorded the song July 3 with John Scott Trotter's
Orchestra, and by fall it had shot to the top of the Billboard charts,
where it stayed for a whopping 9 weeks! All together, "Only Forever" spent
20 weeks on the Billboard charts.

Do I want to be with you
As the years come and go?
Only forever
If you care to know.
Would I grant all your wishes
And be proud of the task
Only forever
If someone should ask.
How long would it take me
To be near if you bechon?
Off hand I would figure
Less than a second.
Do you think I'll remember
How you looked when you smile?
Only forever
That's puttin' it mild.

How long would it take me
To be near if you bechon?
Off hand I would figure
Less than a second.
Do you think I'll remember
How you looked when you smile?
Only forever
That's puttin' it mild.
